NJ CRID 2016 Award Recipients Quotes

Marianne Regan, Friday Night Drop In, Somerset County:  “The Franklin Township Recreation Department was proud to accept the NJ Distinguished Governmental Agency Recreation Services Award for the Friday Night Drop-In Program. This program offers a variety of activities monthly in an effort to expose participants to new and exciting programs.  In addition, this program expands participants’ social support by inviting teens from the Franklin Township Youth Council and Boys’ Council programs to participate, socialize, and provide assistance. Socializing these three groups together gives us the unique opportunity to create an inclusive, supportive community.”

Linda Halm, parent and past NJ CRID Board Member, Ocean County:  “I was very surprised and honored to receive the Special Recognition Award for Outstanding Service 2016 from NJ CRID. Having worked with this dedicated group of volunteers for 16 years gave me, as a parent of a person with disabilities, new knowledge and appreciation of the many efforts made in creating recreational opportunities for adults and children with disabilities throughout the State of New Jersey. All members of NJ CRID volunteer a great deal of time and energy to provide the workshops and conferences that bring attention to this need. I am glad I was able to contribute, in some way, to this important work.”

Kevin Taylor, TRY CAN Programs, Union County:  “We feel honored to be recognized by NJ CRID at the 2016 NJ CRID “Learn, Grow, Inspire” conference. We do not do the work we do for awards, so we were quite thrilled and humbled that NJ CRID and our peers would recognize us for doing what we feel is a privilege for us – serving youth with unique needs with recreation opportunities. We humbly accept these awards on behalf of our kids and their families, our volunteer peer mentors, our coaches and the towns that participate in our Collaboration of towns that join us in offering these programs to our kids.”
